Hope & Salvation in Addis Ababa

by NSC Campus

A new exhibition of photographic images entitled “Hope & Salvation in Addis Ababa” is currently running in the NSC Atrium and will run throughout July. This exhibition is part of the PhotoIreland Festival 2013 Canon Open. A physical booklet and digital iBook, as well as the pictures themselves are available for sale and all proceeds are being donated to the Kidane Mehret Children’s Home in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia.

The photographs in the exhibition were taken by Geoff Spiers of Scannell Solutions Limited and are drawn from several  journeys to the Kidane Mehret Children’s Home in Ethiopia in 2009 (or 2001 by the Ethiopian calendar).

The original pictures have been digitally processed to capture the atmosphere, colour, and emotive sense of place. They are intended to give a glimpse of everyday life in the city of Addis Ababa, although not in photojournalistic way, and without the normal stereotypes of images of Ethiopia. We hope you will discover an unexpected view of this unique place.
